The Bone & Joint Journal
The Bone & Joint Journal (BJJ) is owned and published by The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery, a registered charity (No. 209299). The Society was established with the object of: 'The advancement and improvement of education in orthopaedic surgery and allied branches of surgery and the diffusion of knowledge of new and improved methods of teaching and practising orthopaedic surgery in all its branches'.
The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery supports several orthopaedic fellowships with financial donations. The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery [Br] was first published in February 1948 and shared the title The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery with the American Volume of JBJS. The two volumes were editorially and financially independent. In September 2011, JBJS (Am) and JBJS (Br) reached a joint agreement on future, independent operations. This new agreement now gives each Journal more autonomy over its future direction and strategy. Relaunched as The Bone & Joint Journal in 2012, the journal publishes monthly issues.
